Making the Most of Summer - Despite the Weather

British summer has not been kind to us.

Still, there’s no reason you can’t make the most of it! So, despite the horrible weather: here are our best tips for making the most of your summer - even if it’s raining…

Constantly.

Take Advantage of Indoor Activities

Art galleries, museums, picture houses, all great ways to have fun indoors - and very cheap! These activities are great for solo or group outings, and can kill a good few hours while you wait for a dry spell.

If you’re looking for summer activities in the Lake District, we recommend Maryport Aquarium, Carlisle’s Tullie House, the Beacon in Whitehaven, or Keswick’s Puzzling Place.

Try a New Hobby

How long have you been saying you wanted to try crochet, or get back into reading?

Well, now’s your chance! Now that school’s out, or you don’t have the distraction of the sunshine, you’ve got plenty of time to get cosy and finally get around to all of those projects you’ve been putting off.

Go For a Drive

If you’ve passed your test, going for a drive can be a great way to fill time and take in the scenery of the Lake District.

While this is even better when it’s sunny, a rainy drive can be quite comfy, especially with some tunes!

Be sure to drive on quieter roads when it’s raining, and don’t get behind the wheel if you’re not 100% confident driving in adverse weather conditions.

Go to Work

If you’re a student on summer break, you’ve probably been told a lot to get a job, or start putting in more hours.

While there are definitely better things you could spend summer doing, if it’s too rainy to do anything anyway, why not go and put some money in your pocket?

Try not to look at the clock, and keep yourself busy to make the time go faster!

Get on a Coat, and Go Out Anyway!

It looks like we’re in for a wet and windy summer. There’s not much we can do about it, aside from jetting off to another country.

Grab a coat, grab a brolly, and go on the walk anyway! You can still grab an ice cream or a cold drink - although, it might not be the wisest.

Just because the weather’s miserable, doesn’t mean we have to be! Summer is going to pass us by, whether it comes with sunshine or not.

If you’re a student, you only get so many chances to have this much free time - make the most of it.
