Whitehaven to Hold Wellbeing Festival That Promises a Great Day Out for All Ages

This summer, residents are being encouraged to attend a Whitehaven festival designed to help improve wellbeing.

The Wellbeing Festival is a free event that is set to take place tomorrow on the 25th of August from 10am to 3pm at Whitehaven Rugby League Club, Coach Road.

Over twenty-eight organisations will come together at the festival to provide, guidance, advice, and activities from professionals to help improve people’s wellbeing and health.

The event is suited to all ages and workshops will focus primarily on the following topics:

· Suicide awareness

· Mindfulness, assertiveness and keeping yourself well

· Advice for those over 18 and unemployed

· Energy advice and how to keep your home warm this winter

The festival is being hosted by Copeland Council’s Social Prescribing team in partnership with Cumbria County Council, the Social Prescribing NHS Copeland Locality team and Active Cumbria.

Jan Fotheringham, Social Prescribing Community Support Worker, Copeland Borough Council, has said: “We have some fantastic organisations offering a wealth of help and support to our residents and we can’t wait to showcase the amazing work they do."

“Social prescribing helps people improve their health and wellbeing, in a non-medical way, by connecting them with a range of groups, activities and services.”

“This event provides an opportunity for residents to meet new people, have a great day out and find out what’s on offer in the Copeland community.”
