'My name is Jessi Hurst, I'm an 18 year old local photographer, born in Whitehaven and I study photography at University of Solent, Southampton. Recently because of Covid I've not been able to return to my Uni so I've taken up a personal project to show the beauty of my hometown Whitehaven.'
It is no secret that Cumbria is a visually stunning place to live, from lakes to forests, to beaches to farm land- there is beauty to be found everywhere. Photographer Jessi Hurst has recently taken on a project due to the national lockdown where she captures the beauty of her hometown through stunningly atmospheric pieces that give us a sense of what it means to feel at home.
Jessi is fantastic at capturing familiar parts of Whitehaven in a unique manner, she uses light and shadows to her advantage and it creates a beautiful almost surreal feeling for us viewers. We love that despite the lockdown, Jessi has continued to create and show the beauty of Whitehaven regardless of the unprecedented times surrounding us. Jessi is definitely a talented upcoming Cumbrian photographer to be watched.
